Service Description

Sometimes you just want to look at someone's backyard chicken or duck setup to get some ideas before starting a poultry adventure of your own! This class is an adults-oriented discussion regarding the pros and cons of backyard chickens and ducks. We will observe a poultry brooding setup, grow-out pen, adults in confinement, discuss the topics below and answer questions. Common questions we hear include the following: 1. Ducks versus chickens 2. What to do with the poop? 3. Predators (housing and other safety issues) 4. Keeping the neighbors happy (i.e., quiet birds are good) 5. But I LIKE my lawn and my favorite plants! 6. Is it legal? 7. Should I start with babies or adults? 8. How do I handle the eggs safely? 9. Will they eat bugs? Can I still treat my lawn? 10. How I got my spouse on board with the idea. 11. End of life issues (if desired to discuss) 12. Other topics as desired.
